The evaluation process of scientific articles in the Journal of Economics and International Trade (JEIT) passes through a set of rigorous and organized stages to ensure the quality and objectivity of scientific research.
The Journal (JEIT) relies on a Double-Blind Peer Review system, where the reviewer does not know the identity of the author, and the author does not know the identity of the reviewer.
Here are the detailed steps of this process, step-by-step:
First: Stages of Scientific Article Evaluation
1 Initial Review (Desk Review)
As soon as the article is submitted through the platform, the Editor-in-Chief or their assistant performs an initial review focusing on:
- Compatibility Check: The extent to which the article matches the specialty and scope of the journal.
- Adherence to Journal Rules: Compliance with the journal's template, publishing conditions, and citation rules (such as the APA format).
- Plagiarism Check: Done using approved software such as Turnitin or iThenticate. If the citation percentage exceeds the permissible limit (which is usually required to be less than 30%), the article is directly rejected.
2 Secret Reviewer Assignment
If the article passes the initial desk review, the names of the authors and any reference to their identity are removed from the text.
Then, the Editor-in-Chief sends it to at least two specialized reviewers with precise and highly accurate expertise in the research topic. They are given a specific timeframe, which typically ranges between 2 to 4 weeks.
3 Academic Peer Review Process
The reviewer examines the article based on a specific, scientific evaluation grid, focusing on the following critical points:
- Research Originality: Does the research provide a new scientific contribution or is it a repetition?
- Scientific Methodology: Are the statistical tools or models used correct and justified?
- Analysis & Discussion: The depth of interpreting the results and linking them with previous studies.
- Up-to-Date References: Reliance on recent and high-impact studies classified in strong periodicals.
Second: Decisions of the Arbitration Committee
After completing the evaluation process, each reviewer sends their confidential report including one of the following four decisions:
Accepted (As-is)
Minor Revisions
Major Revisions
Rejected (Rejection)
Third: The Golden Rule for Resolving Conflicting Decisions (Tie-Breaking Rule)
If reviewers disagree (for instance, if one reviewer accepts the article while the other reviewer rejects it), the Editor-in-Chief refers the research to a third referee (adjudicator) to make the final decision on accepting or rejecting the article, ensuring the highest degrees of fairness and objectivity.
Fourth: Final Decision and Publication
After the author fulfills all the requested revisions (if any) and the reviewers endorse them, the manuscript undergoes the following steps:
Acceptance Letter
The Editor-in-Chief issues the official Final Acceptance Letter to the authors.
Articles in Press
The article is listed on the "Articles in Press" page as a preparation for publication.
Issue Publication
The article is scheduled for its final publication in the upcoming issue of the journal.
